On the evening of June 30, 2025, the Tulsa community was shaken by a violent and unprovoked act of gunfire at a local bus stop. The shooting, which occurred near the QuikTrip gas station at 11th and Utica, left two men injured and sparked a swift response from Tulsa law enforcement, ultimately leading to the arrest of 23-year-old Jose Guillen.

The terrifying incident unfolded around 5:30 p.m. when a police officer, who was in the area at the time, was flagged down by concerned witnesses. These witnesses informed the officer that a shooting had just occurred at a nearby bus stop, and the victims were in need of urgent medical assistance. Upon arrival, officers discovered two men suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims had sustained a gunshot to the leg, while the other had been hit in the shoulder. Both individuals were immediately transported to the hospital, where they were treated for their injuries. Fortunately, authorities have confirmed that the wounds are not life-threatening, but the trauma from the attack remains significant.

Witnesses reported that the shooting took place without warning. A white Lexus sedan approached the bus stop, and without provocation, a person from inside the vehicle opened fire on the unsuspecting individuals. The car then sped away from the scene, leaving the victims behind. Surveillance footage from the area confirmed these accounts, and investigators immediately began their search for the vehicle and the person responsible for the attack.

The investigation led authorities to an apartment complex in the 5000 block of South 136th East Avenue, where detectives identified the suspect vehicle. At approximately 10:00 p.m., police officers attempted to stop the Lexus, but the driver refused to pull over. A brief pursuit ensued, but the driver eventually stopped the vehicle. When officers conducted a search of the car, they found several shell casings, which investigators believe are linked to the shooting that had occurred earlier in the day.

The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Jose Guillen, was taken into custody without further incident. He was transported to the Tulsa County Jail, where he was booked on two counts of Shooting With Intent to Kill. The arrest came as a relief to the community, as the police had acted quickly and decisively to apprehend the suspect.

While Guillen has been arrested, authorities are careful to remind the public that an arrest is not a conviction. He is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Investigators have not yet determined the motive behind the attack, and it appears to have been completely unprovoked. At this stage, police are continuing their efforts to piece together the events leading up to the shooting. They are urging anyone with additional information or video footage of the incident to come forward, as it may assist in the ongoing investigation.

The names of the victims have not yet been released, but both men are expected to recover from their injuries. Despite the promising prognosis for the victims, this senseless act of violence has left the local community reeling. The randomness of the attack, combined with the apparent lack of any provocation, has prompted increased concerns about safety in public spaces. Tulsa residents are now more aware of the potential dangers that can arise even in seemingly ordinary situations.

Local authorities, including the Tulsa Police Department, have been working tirelessly to ensure that justice is served. They have praised the cooperation of the public, which played a crucial role in the swift identification of the suspect and the timely arrest of Jose Guillen. The quick actions of officers, along with the help of witnesses, have been essential in preventing further harm and bringing a sense of justice to the situation.

In the aftermath of the shooting, community leaders and residents have called for increased vigilance and safety measures, particularly in high-traffic public areas like bus stops. Many people are questioning what can be done to prevent such random acts of violence from occurring in the future. While the authorities continue their investigation, there is a collective sense of unease and uncertainty as the details of the attack remain unclear.

As the case moves through the legal system, the focus remains on ensuring that the victims receive the support and care they need to recover from the trauma they’ve experienced. At the same time, Tulsa residents are left to grapple with the unsettling reality that a violent act could happen without warning, leaving lives forever changed.

This disturbing incident has also prompted local leaders to call for further discussions about public safety and ways to reduce the prevalence of violence in the community. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to authorities in an effort to prevent further harm. With the arrest of Jose Guillen, the immediate threat to the community has been neutralized, but questions remain about the motivations behind such random acts of violence and how to address the root causes of these events.

In conclusion, the shooting near the QuikTrip on 11th and Utica serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictability and dangers that can exist in everyday life. While the two victims are expected to recover, their ordeal underscores the need for greater public safety measures and community awareness. Authorities continue to investigate the incident, and the Tulsa community stands united in its commitment to ensuring that justice is served and that such acts of violence are prevented in the future. The events of June 30, 2025, have left a lasting impact on the local community, and the lessons learned from this shocking act of violence will likely shape the city’s approach to safety and crime prevention in the years to come.
