Neil Gavri Fairfax Station VA Death and Obituary – The community of Fairfax Station is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 17-year-old Neil Gavri, a South County High School student who tragically lost his life in a fatal traffic accident on Sunday, May 4, 2025. The accident has left family, friends, classmates, and teachers reeling from the sudden loss of a young man who was not only academically gifted but also deeply compassionate and full of life.

Neil was a bright and dedicated student known for his intellect, curiosity, and warm personality. A standout in the classroom, he had a particular affinity for math, science, and technology. His interest in these fields led him to actively participate in the school’s robotics team, where he collaborated with peers on innovative projects and solutions. With aspirations to pursue a career in computer science or aerospace engineering, Neil was widely recognized by his teachers as a diligent learner and natural leader who was always eager to help others understand challenging material.

Beyond academics, Neil’s vibrant spirit touched every corner of the school and community. Friends and classmates recall his quick wit, generous nature, and ability to bring a sense of calm and joy wherever he went. Whether through tutoring, volunteering, or simply being a dependable friend, Neil demonstrated kindness and maturity beyond his years. His quiet confidence and thoughtful demeanor made him a role model among his peers.

Neil’s passions extended well outside the classroom. An avid reader and music lover, he often immersed himself in science fiction and fantasy literature, especially works by Isaac Asimov and Brandon Sanderson. His love for storytelling was reflected in his personal hobbies, including sketching scenes from his favorite novels and composing eclectic Spotify playlists filled with indie, classical, and lo-fi tracks. He also enjoyed biking along local trails and building custom computers—activities that showcased both his technical skills and creative mind.

At home, Neil was a devoted son and caring older brother. He shared a strong bond with his family, often spending evenings playing board games or helping with homework. His parents and younger sister described him as grounded, responsible, and deeply loving—a young man whose presence brought peace and joy to their lives.

In the wake of this tragedy, South County High School has made grief counselors available for students and staff, and plans are underway for a memorial to honor Neil’s life. Discussions are also taking place about establishing a scholarship fund in his name to support students interested in STEM—an initiative that reflects Neil’s own dreams and values.

Neil’s funeral will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at National Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA. The Gavri family welcomes all who wish to pay their respects and has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to organizations supporting STEM education or youth mental health.

Neil Gavri’s time on this earth was far too short, but the legacy he leaves behind—of kindness, brilliance, and compassion—will continue to inspire and uplift those who knew him. His memory will be a guiding light in the hearts of many for years to come.
