Corning, California — A violent home invasion and shooting in Corning earlier this week has prompted an urgent manhunt for two 17-year-old suspects now wanted for attempted murder and a slew of other serious felony charges. The suspects—Clint Mooney of Orland and Keanu Nahinu of Yreka—are considered armed, dangerous, and gang-affiliated, according to the Corning Police Department.

    Incident Details

The incident occurred in the early morning hours of June 24, 2025, just after midnight. Officers responded at 12:05 a.m. to the 1000 block of Prune Street following 911 reports of multiple gunshots and a man down.

Upon arriving at the scene, police located a 43-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the back. A 38-year-old female was also present at the residence but was not physically injured. Officers immediately administered aid before the male victim was transported to a hospital, where he remains under medical care.

According to police, Mooney and Nahinu forced their way into the victims’ residence while it was unoccupied and lay in wait. When the victims returned home and opened the door, they were confronted by the two suspects, both armed with firearms. Attempting to flee, the male victim was shot in the back during the chaos.

The suspects fled the scene on foot before authorities arrived.

    Suspect Descriptions and Charges

After several days of investigative work, detectives identified the shooters and obtained arrest warrants. The suspects are now wanted on multiple felony charges, including:

    • 664/187 PC – Attempted Murder
    • 459 PC – First-Degree Burglary
    • 422 PC – Criminal Threats
    • 246.3 PC – Negligent Discharge of a Firearm
    • 182(a)(1) PC – Conspiracy to Commit a Crime
    • 246 PC – Shooting at an Inhabited Dwelling
    • 245 PC – Assault with a Deadly Weapon

    Clint Mooney (17)

    • Residence: Orland, CA
    • Height: 5’8”
    • Weight: 155 lbs
    • Hair: Black
    • Eyes: Hazel
    • Distinguishing Marks: Tattoo covering the entire throat and neck area

    Keanu Nahinu (17)

    • Residence: Yreka, CA
    • Height: 6’2”
    • Weight: 230 lbs
    • Hair: Shaved Head
    • Distinguishing Marks: No visible tattoos

Both juveniles are documented gang associates, and investigators warn that they may be armed and willing to use violence. They are known to have connections in multiple cities across Tehama, Glenn, and Siskiyou Counties and may be receiving assistance from others.

Community Alert and Public Safety Message

The Corning Police Department, along with regional law enforcement agencies, is urging the public to remain vigilant. Do not attempt to approach or apprehend either suspect. If you spot them or have any knowledge of their whereabouts, call 911 immediately.

Anonymous tips and information may also be directed to the Corning Police Department at (530) 824-7000.

This incident is a stark reminder of the growing concern surrounding juvenile involvement in gang violence in small communities. The Corning Police Department continues to work around the clock to bring Mooney and Nahinu into custody and ensure justice for the victims involved.

    Ongoing Investigation

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the events leading up to the attack, including any additional individuals who may have assisted the suspects before or after the shooting. Detectives are also looking into the suspects’ broader gang affiliations and their connection to other regional crimes.

The community is urged to come forward with any information—no detail is too small. Cooperation could prove critical in locating the suspects and preventing further violence.

This is a developing story. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
