Liz Schilinski-Spotti, of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, passed away suddenly, leaving the Penn State Wrestling community and countless friends and loved ones in deep mourning. A fierce supporter, tireless advocate, and genuine soul, Liz leaves behind a legacy of loyalty, love, and unmatched passion—not only for the sport of wrestling, but for the people within it.

To call Liz a wrestling fan is an understatement. She was a true cornerstone of the Penn State Wrestling family, known for her unwavering dedication, fierce loyalty, and boundless enthusiasm. Her support extended far beyond the stands; she gave her time, energy, and heart to help grow the sport and uplift the athletes she believed in. From high school tournaments to NCAA championships and events like Final X, Liz was a constant presence—often front row, always all-in.

Friends and fellow fans remember her for her bold spirit and unmatched energy. “At the time, she was the biggest Penn State Wrestling fan I had ever met,” one said. Liz’s love for the sport was infectious, her knowledge vast, and her commitment to supporting both elite competitors and grassroots programs never faltered.

But beyond the mat, Liz was driven by something even greater: her love for people, especially kids. Her mission was simple and profound—give love, and help young people thrive. She believed in wrestling not just as a sport but as a community where young athletes could grow, learn, and find their place. She gave generously, whether financially, emotionally, or through action, always finding ways to support youth development, inclusion, and mentorship.

Her advocacy often took place behind the scenes, where she made sure promising athletes had the resources and encouragement they needed to succeed. She believed in second chances, in hard work, and in the incredible potential of every kid willing to give their all.

The news of Liz’s passing has sent shockwaves through the wrestling world. Tributes have come in from athletes, coaches, and fans alike, each reflecting the deep impact she had:

“Terrible news hearing about the passing of Liz Spotti. Liz was a wrestling superfan and supported so many throughout the wrestling community. She will be missed.”
“My heart hurts, man… Liz Schilinski-Spotti was a real one. She freaking LOVED wrestling. All she wanted was to be loved and help kids. RIP my friend, love you.”

Liz was unforgettable—bold, funny, sincere, and passionate. She showed up, stayed late, and supported people whether they were at the top of the podium or just beginning their journey. She didn’t do it for recognition; she did it because she cared.

Her absence leaves a void that can never be filled. Liz Schilinski-Spotti was more than a fan. She was family to many and a force of light in every arena she entered. She will be remembered for the love she gave, the lives she touched, and the enduring mark she left on a sport and community she so deeply cherished.

And if there’s wrestling in heaven, we know Liz already has the best seat in the house.
