JONESBORO, Ga. — The Clayton County Police Department is actively investigating two shooting incidents that occurred just minutes and miles apart Wednesday night along Tara Boulevard, raising concerns about a possible connection between the two crime scenes.
The first incident was reported around 8:15 p.m. at Lovejoy Regional Park, located at 1935 McDonough Road. While police have yet to confirm whether anyone was injured at the park, the presence of officers and investigators suggests a serious response to the unfolding situation.
Just 17 minutes later, a second shooting call came in from the area outside the Kroger grocery store at 10375 Tara Boulevard, approximately two miles from the first location. The rapid succession of events has prompted investigators to examine whether the two incidents are related in any way — either through individuals involved, motive, or other common factors.
At this time, no arrests have been made, and no suspect information has been released. Police have also not shared specific details about the number of victims or the condition of anyone involved in either shooting.
Both scenes remain under active investigation, and law enforcement is urging anyone with information or who may have witnessed either incident to come forward.
“We are treating both scenes with the utmost seriousness,” a Clayton County Police spokesperson said. “Our investigators are working around the clock to determine the facts and whether these events are isolated or connected.”
As the investigation continues, residents in the area are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. More updates are expected as police gather evidence and speak with potential witnesses.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Clayton County Police Department or submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta.
