In Westmoreland County, four people—two of whom were children—were killed in what investigators believed was a murder-suicide. The victims were discovered at a residence on Keck Lane in Hempfield on Friday morning, according to officials. Paul Swarner, 35; Karen Swarner, 32; Evelyn, 5; and Connor, 1 were the victims identified by state police, who were conducting the investigation in conjunction with the Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive female lying in the front yard of a residence. Scotland County EMS pronounced the victim, identified as 17-year-old Jasmine Smith of 330 Roosevelt Street, Laurinburg, NC, deceased at the scene. A fatal shooting at the Summer Chase Trailer Park on Mance Newton Road has claimed the life of 31-year-old Harleigh Michelle Dills of Dothan. Dothan Police Lt. Scott Owens reported that officers responded to the scene shortly after 9:30 a.m. on January 24, 2025, following a report of a firearm assault.
