She says she was surprised by the judicial department’s request for money, saying no one knows how many cases will result in new trials. “There are so many unknowns with this entire scandal,” Zokaie said. The CBI says Missy Woods handled 10,000 cases over her 30 years as a DNA analyst, and it found anomalies in 1,000 cases. But it hasn’t said if any of those anomalies would change the outcome of the case. Zokaie’s bill calls for the lab to notify district attorneys of all misconduct by September. The DAs then must notify defendants, public defenders and victims. “The…

Colorado recently issued its first license to a psilocybin healing center. In 2022, voters in Colorado chose to decriminalize psychedelic mushrooms and create healing centers for psilocybin therapy. Since then, it’s been a long road for the state to set up a regulatory framework. Two state agencies — the Colorado Department of Revenue and the Department of Regulatory Agencies — license and regulate the natural medicine industry. Both agencies adopted final rules and released the framework for training programs in late 2024. As of Dec. 31, 2024, the agencies began accepting license applications for natural medicine businesses and facilitators. Since…

CDPHE says anyone who visited Denver Health Emergency Department on Bannock Street between 10:30 a.m.…
Florida defeated Houston 65-63 to take home the school’s third NCAA men’s basketball championship, coming back from down double digits and taking the lead in the final minute of the game. Florida and Walter Clayton Jr. somehow overcame Houston’s spirit-crushing defense Monday night in an NCAA title-game thriller not decided until Clayton’s own defense stopped the Cougars from taking a game-winning shot at the buzzer. Clayton finished with 11 points, all in the second half, but what he’ll be remembered for most was getting Houston’s Emanuel Sharp to stop in the middle of his motion as he tried to go…
