BANGKOK (AP) — Rescue workers saved a 63-year-old woman from the rubble of a building in Myanmar’s capital on Tuesday, but hope was fading of finding many more survivors of the violent earthquake that killed more than 2,700 people, compounding a humanitarian crisis caused by a civil war. The fire department in Naypyitaw said the woman was successfully pulled from the rubble 91 hours after being buried when the building collapsed in the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that hit midday Friday. Experts say the likelihood of finding survivors drops dramatically after 72 hours. Death toll numbers forecast to increase The head…

NEW YORK (AP) — As the trade wars launched by U.S. President Donald Trump continue to escalate, all eyes are on Wednesday. Trump has repeatedly called April 2 “Liberation Day,” with promises to roll out a set of tariffs, or taxes on imports from other countries, that he says will free the U.S. from a reliance on foreign goods. To do this, Trump has said he’ll impose “reciprocal” tariffs to match the duties that other countries charge on U.S. products. But a lot remains unknown about how these levies will actually be implemented. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said…

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) — NASA’s celebrity astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams said Monday that they hold themselves partly responsible for what went wrong on their space sprint-turned-marathon and would fly on Boeing’s Starliner again. SpaceX recently ferried the duo home after more than nine months at the International Space Station, filling in for Boeing that returned to Earth without them last year. In their first news conference since coming home, the pair said they were taken aback by all the interest and insisted they were only doing their job and putting the mission ahead of themselves and even…

Employees across the massive U.S. Health and Human Services Department began receiving notices of dismissal Tuesday in an overhaul ultimately expected to lay off up to 10,000 people. The cuts include researchers, scientists, doctors, support staff and senior leaders, leaving the federal government without many of the key experts who have long guided U.S. decisions on medical research, drug approvals and other issues. At the National Institutes of Health, the world’s leading health and medical agency, the layoffs occurred as its new director, Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, began his first day of work. “The revolution begins today!” Health Secretary Robert F.…

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The old-fashioned counting stats are fascinating for Adrian Wooley, the dynamic guard from Kennesaw State who committed to Pat Kelsey and the University of Louisville from the transfer portal Monday. Third in Conference USA in scoring at 18.5 per game. Third in shooting percentage at 51.3, which is actually the leader among backcourt players. Seventh in assists at 3.52 per game — as a 6’5″ player comfortable playing either guard position. No surprise. This is how Wooley described his daily routine to folks at Kennesaw State: “Wake up, go to practice, study hall, back to the…

Andy Beshear signed House Bill 15 into law last week, lowering the minimum age requirement from 16 to 15. While the measure lowers the age requirement a driver’s permit, it doesn’t change the requirements for obtaining a full driver’s license. The law stipulates that young drivers will still need to pass a written test, a vision test and complete a driving hours log. KYTC is now making system upgrades so a credential can be…
