The clash between the Wildcats and Volunteers marks the third meeting of the season between the two programs. Kentucky won both games during the season. The Cats bested the Vols, 78-73, in Knoxville back in January and beat Tennessee, 75-64, in Lexington two weeks later. The third matchup, in a win-or-go-home situation, adds a layer of intrigue. “I think…
A truck driver hauling a trailer filled with 127 cows took a ramp too fast Friday morning, police said, tipping the trailer and snarling traffic at the Interstate 65 and Interstate 80/94 interchange for much of the day. One cow died at the scene, one had to be euthanized and two others were injured, according to Sgt. Glen Fifield, public information officer for Indiana State Police’s Lowell Post. The truck driver, who wasn’t hurt, was cited for speeding too fast to avoid a collision, Fifield said. No other vehicles were involved. The crash happened around 8 a.m. when the truck…
What is it about Dolton and inexcusably bloated salaries for elected officials and administrators? The outgoing superintendent of the school district for elementary and middle schools in the village of Dolton and neighboring Riverdale, we’ve just come to learn, is making $450,000 a year and by the time he retires two years from now his salary will balloon to $510,000. Just to put that in perspective, Pedro Martinez, who is running the nation’s fourth largest school system at Chicago Public Schools, is making a little over $350,000 in salary. How in the world is Kevin Nohelty, who oversees 10 schools,…

NEW YORK — Even if you’re not in the market for a new car, U.S. President Donald Trump’s 25% tariffs on auto imports could make owning one more expensive. The new taxes, which are set to begin April 3 and expand in the following weeks, are estimated to raise the average cost of a car imported from another country by thousands of dollars. But repairs for vehicles that currently use foreign-made parts are also expected to get pricier — and, as a result, hike insurance costs farther down the road. While the White House says these tariffs will foster domestic…

Andrew Benintendi pointed out the obvious Thursday when he noted that the Chicago White Sox weren’t going to become world beaters all of a sudden. An 8-1 opening-day win over the Los Angeles Angels at The Rate got things off on the right foot, but it was only one game. “You never want to look too much into opening day,” he said. “It’s not like we’re going to go out and win 162 games. You’ve got to be realistic. But all the way around, the lineup did well, the pitchers did well, so it’s definitely something to build off of.”…
