CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — There’s a significant shortage of air traffic controllers nationwide. It’s something the National Air Traffic Controller Association, a labor union aviation safety organization, has raised concerns about for decades. “We’ve always been short in ATC,” retired air traffic controller George Cline said. CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — One person is dead and four others are injured after a crash overnight on I-85 in north Charlotte, according to Medic. Around 3:30 a.m., officials responded to the crash on I-85 north near Exit 40/N. Graham Street. Medic said one person was pronounced dead at the scene and four people were transported to local hospitals, one with life-threatening injuries and three with serious injuries. LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles Lakers rescinded their trade to acquire Mark Williams from Charlotte because the center failed his physical, a person with knowledge of the circumstances told The Associated Press on Saturday night. CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are investigating a homicide in northwest Charlotte. The incident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. on Saturday in the 3400 block of Freedom Drive. Police responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call in the area. Officials say before police arrived, a man suffering from a gunshot wound left the scene in a vehicle and drove to Atrium Health Mercy where he later died. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police charged a 38-year-old man who is accused of gunning down a woman outside a public services building off North Tryon Street, in the middle of the morning Friday. Kristopher Anthony Sinclair, 38, was taken into custody early Saturday morning for the shooting that occurred in the parking lot of the Ella B. Scarborough Community Resource Center.
