On Saturday, January 4, 2025, at approximately 08:42 am, officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to a residence along the 900 block of Tamarack Drive in reference to a reported missing person. Officers arrived on scene and conducted an investigation that resulted in the location of an adult female suffering from fatal injuries. Medical personnel were summoned to the scene, and the victim was pronounced deceased. The decedent has been identified as Jakaira Ortiz (Black female, 24 years old).
