A memorial has grown on the car of Ian Epstein, one of the American Airlines flight crew that was killed when Flight 5342 crashed into a military helicopter Wednesday night in the Potomac River in Washington, D.C. Flowers and messages surrounded the vehicle, many from the Express Parking staff near the Charlotte airport, where Epstein often parked his vehicle. BOONE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Legends, a social event space that was often considered a nightclub on Appalachian State University’s campus, is set to be demolished following damage due to Helene. Many people who work at the shopping center told Queen City News they see pros and cons to the plan. CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Last week’s fatal mid-air crash over the Potomac River has prompted a lot of finger-pointing.  The cause of the deadly collision of an American Airlines jet and a U.S. Army helicopter near Reagan National Airport is still unknown. A preliminary report as to what happened is expected within 30 days, with a final report as to why the accident happened could take over a year. CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Tuesday brought a summer feel to the Carolinas, with record-breaking high temperatures.  Charlotte was able to rise to 80 degrees on Tuesday, which shattered the previous record of 76 degrees that was set back in 1926.  This is also the second earliest day in history that Charlotte has hit 80 degrees. We did not quite beat the monthly record, as Charlotte has hit 82 degrees in the month of February in 2011 and 2018. A cold shock to the system is coming on Wednesday, as some high temperatures will struggle to get out of the…

Tributes are pouring in for a woman who tragically drowned after becoming trapped between rocks on a seafront in Suffolk. Saffron Cole-Nottage lost her life after tripping and falling between large boulders on Lowestoft Beach on Sunday. Despite a major emergency response, the 32-year-old could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene. Ms. Cole-Nottage, a mother from Kent, is believed to have drowned after getting stuck in the rocks along the seawall near the Royal Green area of the resort. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office has released a person of interest in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in Lincoln County on Monday, just hours after the incident. According to an official statement, the individual was initially booked on a manslaughter charge but was later released. The shooting took place in the 300 block of South Highway W, prompting a response from both Lincoln County deputies and Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers around noon.
