RALEIGH, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Republicans in the State House of Representatives introduced bills Wednesday related to early voting and further limiting gubernatorial powers.  House Bill 66, sponsored by Rep. Wyatt Gable (R-Onslow County), calls for decreasing the number of days allotted for early voting in North Carolina. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Grandfather Mountain has bid farewell to Ajax the bald eagle.  Park officials say Ajax died Wednesday, Feb. 5, following complications from an infection he developed. CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — As the Trump administration continues its mass deportation efforts across the nation, South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson is urging the state’s sheriffs to cooperate with ICE agents on operations held in the state. Attorney General Wilson sent a letter to sheriffs across the state asking them to enroll in a program that voluntarily partners with ICE to allow immigration operations to take place in their jurisdiction. Nathan Allen Obituary, Death; – A fatal accident occurred near Aumsville early Wednesday morning, resulting in the death of one individual. At approximately 5:15 a.m., deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the scene of the incident located in the 10600 block of Mill Creek Road Southeast. William McCorkle faced charges of murder, assault, failure to maintain insurance, and operating a vehicle while under the influence.
