Faith Waterman Batistich, a 20-year-old from Te Puke, New Zealand, tragically lost her life after a party activity went horribly wrong during her daughter’s first birthday celebration. Faith had joined other guests in a common party stunt—breathing in helium to create a high-pitched voice—after inflating balloons from a canister. Although initially hesitant, she eventually participated when encouraged by a fellow guest. Unfortunately, a fatal mistake occurred while she inhaled the gas directly from the canister.
