BALTIMORE, MD — A fatal shooting on York Road is under investigation after two men were shot in the Northern District on September 21. Officers responded to the 4600 block of York Road at approximately 3:31 p.m. and found an unidentified male suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead the following day. On September 22, at around 12:23 p.m., a 42-year-old man walked into a local hospital seeking treatment for a gunshot wound. MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — Kaleab Berhanu, 21, of Baltimore, has been sentenced to two consecutive life sentences plus 20 years for the murder of 20-year-old Carlos Rashard Carter in Silver Spring on Easter Sunday in 2023. On Friday, September 20, a judge handed down the sentence for Berhanu, who was convicted of breaking into Carter’s home in the 11800 block of Old Columbia Pike during the early morning of April 9, 2023, and fatally shooting him while he slept. BALTIMORE, MD — A 24-year-old man was fatally shot early Saturday morning in the 1100 block of Marshall Street, according to police. At approximately 1:47 a.m. on September 21, officers on foot patrol heard gunfire and quickly located the victim suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was pronounced deceased. Homicide detectives are investigating the incident. WASHINGTON, D.C. — Two people were hospitalized after a shooting in Southeast D.C. early Monday morning, police confirmed. The shooting occurred around 1:18 a.m. at the 2000 block of Savannah Terrace. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man and a woman with gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to the hospital by D.C. Fire and EMS for treatment of minor injuries. According to police, there is no indication that the suspect and victims were acquainted. WASHINGTON, D.C. — A man has been arrested in connection with a series of burglaries targeting businesses in the Third District, authorities confirmed. The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Samora Samson Buchanan of Olney, Maryland, allegedly broke into closed businesses located in the 1500 block of U Street, Northwest, on three separate occasions. Once inside, the suspect stole property and fled the scene. PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — Prince William County police have released new details regarding the deaths of a couple found inside their Dumfries home in early August, which they now believe to be a murder-suicide. On August 7, just before 10 p.m., officers responded to the 1900 block of Fort Monroe Court, where they discovered 30-year-old Ashleigh Kaylynn Cash and 33-year-old Davaughn Jamaal Henderson dead from gunshot wounds.
