MOUNT RAINIER, MD** — Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating a Monday evening shooting in Mount Rainier that left one man dead and two others critically injured. The incident occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. in the 3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue. Officers arrived on the scene to find an adult male deceased in a vehicle. Two other victims, a man and a woman, were transported to a hospital with critical injuries. Authorities have withheld the identity of the deceased pending family notification. Detectives are working to determine a motive and identify the suspect or suspects.

STAFFORD, Va. – A Stafford family’s pet snake was safely rescued Tuesday afternoon after becoming trapped in their home’s sump pump. At 2:30 p.m., Sergeant A.J. McCall and Deputy V.R. Weadon responded to an animal control call in the Season’s Landing subdivision. Upon arrival, they found a pet boa constrictor named Prince stuck in a sump pump.
