GAITHERSBURG, MD – A 19-year-old Brooklyn resident, Zhenyong Weng, has been arrested on charges of defrauding an 82-year-old Silver Spring woman through a government-imposter gold bar scam. Montgomery County Police apprehended Weng on Monday, July 15, while he attempted to collect a package valued at over $70,000 from the victim. The scam began in early May when the victim was instructed by an unknown caller to transfer her assets into gold bars to supposedly protect her money from being seized by Russia. NEWARK, DE – A 67-year-old man was seriously injured in a suspected hit and run incident early Tuesday morning, according to the Newark Police Department. The incident occurred on northbound South College Avenue near Plymouth Drive at approximately 5:25 AM on July 16. Upon receiving notification from the New Castle County Police, who first located the injured man, Newark officers were dispatched to the scene. LONG ISLAND, NY – The U.S. Coast Guard has issued a boater safety warning after a massive 300 foot wind turbine blade was spotted floating southbound in the Atlantic Ocean after breaking from from a Massachusetts offshore wind farm.
