Angela Marie Stamness Obituary: A Heartfelt Tribute to a Beloved Wife, Mother, and Community Pillar – Remembering Angela, Her Courage, and Her Enduring Legacy in Gatesville, TX

The vibrant community of Gatesville, Texas, is grieving the loss of a cherished and deeply loved woman, Angela Marie Stamness, who passed away on March 31, 2025, at the age of 52, after a long and courageous battle with multiple health complications, including late-stage cancer. Angela, whose warmth and positivity left an indelible mark on everyone she met, died surrounded by the love and support of her family—a testament to the deep bonds she formed with those she held dear.

Angela’s life was a rich tapestry of service, dedication, and unwavering love for her family and the community. As a Family Support Coordinator (FSC) at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, she dedicated her career to serving veterans and their families, providing invaluable guidance and assistance to those who had served the country. Her role, while demanding, was one that she embraced wholeheartedly, bringing compassion, empathy, and tireless advocacy to those who needed it most.

Her commitment to helping others extended far beyond her professional life. Angela was known for her vibrant personality, infectious laughter, and boundless energy that lit up every room she entered. Whether at work, at home, or in the many other facets of her life, Angela had an uncanny ability to connect with people, making them feel seen, heard, and appreciated. It was this unique blend of empathy, kindness, and humor that made her such an extraordinary person and left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.

Angela was the beating heart of her family, and her love for them was at the core of her identity. She is survived by her devoted husband, Steven Stamness, and their two children, Mason and McKenzee. Her passing leaves a profound void in their lives, but her enduring legacy of love, support, and resilience will continue to guide and inspire them. Angela’s mother, SeraFina, and her sisters, Terry Lou, Gina, Bobbie Sue, and Rosie, also survive her. The Stamness family was a source of strength and joy for Angela, and she was fiercely loyal to them in return, always offering her support and love, no matter the circumstances.

Angela’s devotion to her family and her role as a wife, mother, and sister were foundational to who she was. Her family members have shared that Angela was someone who made everyone feel like they were the most important person in the room. Her love was unconditional, and her willingness to give and sacrifice for her loved ones knew no bounds. It’s clear that her family was her greatest treasure, and they were equally devoted to her.

Angela’s influence, however, extended far beyond her family. To those who knew her in the Gatesville community and in her professional life, Angela was much more than a colleague or neighbor; she was a friend, a confidant, and a true pillar of support. Her ability to lift others up, even during the most difficult times, was a hallmark of her character. Angela was the life of the party, always ready with a joke, a kind word, or an encouraging smile to brighten someone’s day. Her infectious laughter could be heard echoing through any room, and her genuine concern for others was felt by everyone she encountered.

In the years leading up to her passing, Angela faced numerous health challenges that would have broken the spirit of many others. However, she faced these challenges with remarkable strength and grace. Even as her health deteriorated, Angela’s focus remained on the well-being of those around her. Her unyielding determination to fight for every moment with her family and her steadfast belief in the power of love and positivity were inspiring to all who knew her.

Despite the toll that her illness took on her, Angela’s spirit never wavered. She remained a beacon of light for those who were fortunate enough to be in her orbit. Her childhood friend, Beth Carlisle Vencill, shared heartfelt memories of their time together, recalling Angela’s courage and vibrancy. Even though many years had passed since they had last spoken, Beth recalled that the memories of their shared time together were as vivid as ever. For Beth, and for so many others, Angela was a symbol of joy, kindness, and resilience.

As tributes continue to pour in from friends, colleagues, and community members, it’s clear that Angela’s impact was immeasurable. Her role at the Department of Veterans Affairs, where she touched the lives of countless veterans and their families, will remain a part of her legacy. Angela’s commitment to making a difference in the lives of others is something that will continue to resonate long after her passing. She leaves behind a community that will forever be grateful for her contributions and for the light she brought into their lives.

Angela’s death has left a profound sense of loss not only in her immediate family but also in the broader community of Gatesville, where she was beloved by all. Her kindness, her laugh, and her ability to inspire joy in others made her a beloved figure, and her absence will be deeply felt for years to come. Angela’s spirit will live on in the memories of her family and friends, in the countless lives she touched, and in the values of compassion and service that she embodied throughout her life.

The family asks for privacy during this difficult time but takes comfort in knowing that Angela’s love and legacy will never fade. Her family and friends are united in the belief that Angela’s light will continue to shine brightly, even in her absence. Her influence on those around her was profound, and she will never be forgotten.

Angela Stamness is survived by her devoted husband, Steven Stamness, their children, Mason and McKenzee, her mother, SeraFina, and her sisters, Terry Lou, Gina, Bobbie Sue, and Rosie. She was preceded in death by her father, a loss she always carried with grace, yet her love for her family and her commitment to supporting those around her remained undiminished until the very end.

As the Gatesville community and beyond mourn the loss of Angela, they are reminded of the immeasurable impact one person can have. Angela was not just a mother, wife, or professional—she was a shining example of what it means to live a life of love, compassion, and service. Angela’s memory will live on, carried in the hearts of her loved ones and in the countless lives she touched during her 52 years.

Angela’s legacy will endure in the stories that are shared, in the laughter that still echoes in the rooms she once filled, and in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know her. Rest in peace, Angela Marie Stamness. Your light will never be extinguished, and you will always be remembered.
