Dayla Swain Obituary, Death; – A deliberate attack orchestrated by a criminal group from Chicago, intended to dissuade a witness from providing testimony in a felony murder trial in Madison County, tragically resulted in the death of an innocent woman caught in the crossfire, according to police reports.
Court documents filed earlier this month indicate that 18-year-old Rashawn Darrius Samuels was apprehended in connection with a shooting incident at Sonny Ray’s Café in Anderson on February 2. He faces several charges, including:
– One count of murder
– One count of attempted murder, classified as a Level 1 felony
– One count of conspiracy to commit murder, classified as a Level 2 felony
– One count of reckless homicide, classified as a Level 5 felony
Reports indicate that 26-year-old Dayla Swain was fatally shot during the café incident, which occurred in the early hours of February 2 at the establishment located in the 1500 block of South Madison Avenue. Samuels has been identified as one of the individuals involved in the shooting, although authorities suggest that additional shooters may also be implicated.
According to the court documents, Swain was conversing with a man in a Ford F150 when the gunfire erupted, striking the vehicle. The man reported to the police that he fled the scene as the shooting commenced. Surveillance footage from the café allegedly captures Swain struggling to walk, with the truck inadvertently running over her legs as it exited the parking lot.
Following the incident, the Anderson Police Department received numerous tips indicating that Samuels, also known as “Lil’ D,” was one of the shooters. It was noted that he had an outstanding warrant related to an armed robbery case in Kokomo.
The documents further assert that Samuels is connected to the “Mickey Cobra Nation,” a criminal organization with roots in Chicago. It is stated that Samuels’ family are founding members of this group. The documents also highlight an existing conflict between the Mickey Cobra Nation and the individual who was allegedly driving the Ford F150, with police alleging that members of the organization sought to eliminate the driver to prevent him from testifying.
