JERSEY CITY, NJ—The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed the arrest of three individuals linked to a fatal shooting that transpired on the night of May 10, 2024, in Jersey City. Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez provided details on the apprehensions, which include a significant foot chase and subsequent charges.
Makiyy Randolph, 21, from Paterson, was arrested on Friday, July 12, after a brief pursuit on Gates Avenue. He faces multiple charges, including Murder, Felony Murder, Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. Additional charges against Randolph include Obstruction and Resisting Arrest by Flight. He is currently detained at the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
Two juveniles, a 14-year-old female and a 16-year-old male, were also arrested in connection with the incident. They face similar charges, including Murder, Felony Murder, Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, and weapons-related offenses. The arrests of these juveniles occurred at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus on Thursday, July 11.
The incident that led to these arrests occurred shortly before 10 p.m. on May 10, when Jersey City Police were alerted to gunshots at the intersection of Pearsall Avenue and Garfield Avenue. Officers found 24-year-old Resheed Wallace with a fatal gunshot wound to the upper body. He was rushed to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 10:25 p.m. The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office later ruled the death a homicide caused by a gunshot wound to the upper body.
This case remains under active investigation, with further details withheld due to the confidentiality surrounding juvenile matters.
