LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Former Lackawanna County Commissioner Matt McGloin has now reportedly turned down a Boston College coaching position after resigning as county commissioner to take the job, a county spokesperson said.
McGloin announced his resignation on February 21, which went into effect Monday, February 24.
It was thought McGloin left the county commissioner position to take a job coaching football at Boston College, where he would be reunited with former Penn State coach Bill O’Brien.
According to the Lackawanna County Communications Director Patrick McKenna, McGloin has “ultimately declined to accept the BC job,” and has not expressed any interest in returning to the county commissioner position.
McKenna says it is unclear if McGloin could return to the county commissioner job without going through the appointment process.
On Monday, February 24, county commissioner Bill Gaughan announced his desired replacement for McGloin, Dunmore Mayor Max Conway.
McGloin served as a county commissioner for 14 months before announcing his resignation.
