BROOKLYN, NY — A Brooklyn man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in the early hours of Friday, July 12, 2024. The incident took place at 1400 Bergen Street, within the Albany Houses complex, under the jurisdiction of the 77th Precinct/Police Service Area 2.
Police were called to the scene at approximately 12:18 AM following a 911 report of an assault in progress. Upon arrival, officers discovered 21-year-old Dyseem Jackson of 193 Albany Avenue, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the head. Emergency Medical Services pronounced Jackson dead at the scene.
The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Usamah Sidberry of 1400 Bergen Street, Brooklyn, has been charged with second-degree murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.
The motive behind the shooting is still under investigation, and details about what led up to the incident have not yet been released.
