BOSTON, MA—The Boston Police Department has announced the arrest of 22-year-old Nyshiem Shaw of West Roxbury, following a Shot Spotter activation that detected gunfire in Roxbury. The Youth Violence Strike Force made the arrest at approximately 6:01 AM on Thursday, July 11, 2024.
Shaw was wanted on a warrant issued by the Roxbury District Court for several charges, including Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling, and four counts of Destruction of Property over $1,200. He is slated for arraignment at the Roxbury District Court.
The arrest stems from an incident that occurred early on Sunday, July 7, 2024, when police responded at around 3:45 AM to a Shot Spotter alert at 76 Bower Street. The alert reported fifteen rounds fired. Upon their arrival, officers noted ballistic damage to three motor vehicles and a building. This incident underscores ongoing efforts by Boston police to address gun violence in the community.
