On Monday, February 17, 2025, Kandice Bell tragically took her own life at Galleria Mall, leaving behind five children. While her four younger children are now in the care of their father and stepmother, her eldest son, 17-year-old Elijah, is left without either parent, as his father is absent from his life.
Unfortunately, Kandice did not have life insurance or any financial resources to support her children’s future.
A close family friend, Gina Hearn, has stepped forward to care for Elijah, offering both her home and her heart. However, Gina and her husband Josh, along with their three children, are already managing the financial challenges of a family of five. Bringing Elijah into their home introduces additional difficulties, such as the need for a larger vehicle, as their current car only seats five.
Elijah will be staying with the Hearns for at least the next two years, and while he navigates this heartbreaking loss, they are committed to providing him with the love, stability, and support he needs to heal and grow.
One of Elijah’s greatest passions is boxing, and continuing his training is crucial to maintaining a sense of normalcy in his life during this challenging time.
To ensure Elijah’s well-being, any support—whether large or small—will directly help cover his living expenses, school needs, therapy, and assist the family in securing a larger vehicle to accommodate him.
Every contribution will make a meaningful difference in Elijah’s future.
This devastating tragedy also serves as a stark reminder of the importance of mental health awareness. Silent struggles can be overwhelming and often lead people to believe there is no way out.
If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out for help—whether to a friend, family member, or a mental health professional. Your well-being is more important than you may realize.
Though Elijah has lost both of his parents, with the support of caring individuals, he will not have to face this journey alone.
Thank you for your generosity, compassion, and support in giving Elijah the resources and care he needs to rebuild his life.
