It is with great sadness that we announce the tragic passing of Emily Chung, a student at Chantilly High School in Fairfax, Virginia. Emily lost her life after a skiing accident on February 15, 2025, and despite receiving immediate medical care, she passed away on February 17, 2025.
Emily was a beloved and active member of the Chantilly High School community, known for both her academic achievements and her artistic abilities. She was recently recognized in the 2025 Regional Scholastic Art Awards, where Fairfax County Public Schools students earned 809 awards for their outstanding artwork.
In addition to her artistic talents, Emily was involved in several school clubs and community service efforts, always showing a deep commitment to helping others. Her passion for the arts and her dedication to making a difference in the lives of others left a lasting impact on both her peers and teachers.
The news of Emily’s untimely death has deeply affected the Chantilly High School community. Counseling services have been made available to students and staff as they process this difficult loss.
A memorial service to celebrate Emily’s life will take place on February 22, 2025, at 3:00 PM at the Fairfax Community Center. The Chung family has expressed their gratitude for the support they’ve received and requests privacy during this challenging time.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Emily Chung Art Scholarship Fund, which has been created to support aspiring artists at Chantilly High School. Emily’s vibrant spirit and significant contributions to her community will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
