(PINPOINT WEATHER) — Good evening and happy Tuesday! It has been a miserable Tuesday afternoon across the Carolinas with more on the way tonight and into Wednesday.
Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for our mountain counties until Wednesday afternoon as subfreezing temperatures are expected until Wednesday. After another storm system moves through Wednesday and Thursday, we should dry out Friday before even more wet weather moves through this weekend.

As for tonight and Wednesday, cold, wet, and for some, wintry conditions are on the way for the region. Sleet and freezing rain will continue up in the mountains until the morning hours Wednesday. Outside of the mountains, a cold rain is expected later Tuesday and lasting through Wednesday morning.
The rain will be heavy at times with temperatures in Charlotte largely holding steady in the upper-30s to low-40s. Up to four-tenths of an inch of ice is possible across the higher elevations through Wednesday afternoon.
Just as quickly as this storm clears out another will be moving into the region with more rain expected Wednesday afternoon and continuing through Thursday with less wintry potential for the mountains. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are possible Thursday morning as the main front moves through. Highs on Wednesday will be in the low 40s before warmer weather moves in Thursday with highs in the mid-60s.

Cooler weather will return for Friday and Saturday as more rain moves on Saturday with yet another storm system. There is some potential for strong storms once we get to Sunday.
Temperatures are likely to rebound on Sunday in the warm sector of the system before we cool back down heading into next week. In the meantime, get ready for cold and wet weather over the next couple days!
