CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are investigating a homicide in northwest Charlotte.
The incident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. on Saturday in the 3400 block of Freedom Drive. Police responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call in the area.
Officials say before police arrived, a man suffering from a gunshot wound left the scene in a vehicle and drove to Atrium Health Mercy where he later died.
Detectives are currently processing the scene and collecting physical evidence. No word yet on whether police have a suspect or if anyone will face charges.
