Steven H Youngquist,Christine Youngquist Obituary, Death; – The Knox County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identities of the three individuals who lost their lives on January 30 in a collision involving two vehicles on Interstate 74 near Gilson.
Todd A. Graves, aged 61, from Springfield, Ohio, and Steven H. Youngquist, aged 70, from Galesburg, were both pronounced dead at the scene. Christine Youngquist, aged 72, succumbed to her injuries later that day at a local hospital, as reported by Coroner Jacque Dare.
Illinois State Police indicated that at 3:08 a.m. that morning, Graves was operating a gray 2012 Cadillac sedan traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-74 when he collided head-on with the gray 2019 Toyota SUV driven by the Youngquists.
While both Steven Youngquist and Graves were found deceased at the scene, Christine Youngquist was taken to a regional hospital with critical injuries. She ultimately passed away at 4:55 p.m. on January 30, according to Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood.
Harwood’s office is conducting autopsies on all three victims, with the cause of death attributed to multiple blunt force injuries sustained in the accident. Toxicology results are still pending, as mandated by state law. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing, as stated by state police.
