Portsmouth Stabbing – A 53-year-old man suffered a serious abdominal injury after being attacked by another man around 12:30 p.m. today on Kingston Road, North End. Police have arrested five individuals—three women and two men—on suspicion of attempted murder.
Speculation has been growing about the victim’s condition after authorities initially described his injuries as “life-threatening.” A police spokesperson stated: “A 53-year-old man was seriously assaulted by another man, and officers are still working to determine the circumstances. He has been taken to the hospital for treatment to a stomach injury, which is considered serious and potentially life-threatening.” However, in an update provided to The News, police confirmed: “He is alive.”
The attack prompted a significant police response, with officers seen raiding properties in Somerstown. A cordon was placed around a block of flats, and officers remained stationed at the scene. Meanwhile, an officer was spotted outside Lalys Pharmacy on Kingston Road, where the shop floor was littered with debris, and what appeared to be blood was visible inside.
A 39-year-old man from Portsmouth has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a bladed article in a public place.
Additionally, an 18-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and conspiracy to murder, while a 23-year-old man faces charges of attempted murder and possession of cannabis. A 19-year-old woman has also been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
A 50-year-old woman from Portsmouth has been taken into custody on suspicion of conspiracy to murder. All five suspects remain in custody as the investigation continues.
