LONGVIEW, Texas (KETK) – One Longview woman is helping others find their voice by creating a safe space for people to share their stories and become published authors.
The power of your voice is unmatched and Trinity Jackson, a counselor in Longview, is showing that power through the written word.
“Our voice holds, it holds a lot of pain, it holds hope, it holds joy,” Jackson said.
Something Longview she had to discover for herself. Jackson said in her past she came off as intimidating to some but that God opened her eyes to the impact a few sentences can have.
“As we uncovered God’s word, we uncovered the personalities and the characters,” Jackson said. “He didn’t say you have to come in and be perfect, just come in as you are.”
Now, she’s dedicated her life to helping others understand the emotional weight their words carry.
“The two biggest words are hope and healing,” Jackson said “When we get each other’s story, just sit down talking, we can see the magnitude of the emphasis of compassion.”
She created “Her Voice Movement” to give women around the world a platform to share their life experiences, both good and bad, page to page, in her published books.
“In Proverbs, it says ‘iron sharpens iron as a friend sharpens a friend’, and this is what I’m hoping that these books do,” Jackson said. “Not only empower, but it starts to shape that character that God is trying to build.”
This message is what encouraged Jackson to bring other women into her writing process using each woman’s story as their own individual chapter. Pamela Martin started as an author in Jackson’s books and then took on more of a role in the editing process.
“So, the difference in this, I’ve always written, I just never gave anybody anything I’d ever written,” Martin said. “So when I wrote for this, knowing that other people were going to be reading it and other people, that’s a big therapy session.”
She’s helping them turn the page in their own lives while showing other women they are not alone.
“Not just healing emotionally but healing spiritually, to be able to put all of that into words and then publish it and know that other people can read it, other people can see it,” Martin said.
Because of the growing interest in her movement, Jackson has been able to publish three books with dozens of authors all sharing about different phases of life.
“Whether it be pursuing a degree, stepping into a new field, having a baby, not having babies, i mean, just all areas,” Jackson said.
Now she’s looking to expand the movement by giving a platform to include men.
“Timing is right. God knew where I could be able to magnify this project because of the passion that he instilled in me from a different part,” Jackson said. “So I hope, I hope we can get as many women as many men.”
She’s hoping this encouragement can reach beyond Longview and that it can show the world that everyone has a story to share through the power of their voice.
