Angel Torres Obituary, Death; – The individual implicated in a suspected murder-suicide that occurred in Cathedral City last week has been identified as the half-brother of one of the deceased.
According to the Cathedral City Police Department, Adrian Silva Vizcaino, 30, of Cathedral City, entered a residence located on the 69200 block of Nilda Drive at approximately 3:48 a.m. and shot two individuals, a man and a woman, both aged 19, in a bedroom.
The man, who succumbed to his injuries at the scene, has been identified as Angel Torres, also from Cathedral City. The identity of the woman remains undisclosed; she was transported to a hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Shortly after the shooting, police reported that Vizcaino committed an armed robbery at a 7-Eleven store situated at the intersection of Ramon Road and Date Palm Drive, roughly two miles from the location of the shooting. Surveillance footage captured Vizcaino arriving in his vehicle, entering the store, and brandishing a firearm at the clerk, as detailed in a police press release. He subsequently fled the scene with a small amount of cash.
At 11 a.m., the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office notified Cathedral City authorities that they had discovered Vizcaino deceased near the intersection of Kelbaker Road and Kelso Cima Road, in a remote desert area approximately 150 miles from Cathedral City.
The press release indicated that Vizcaino died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Detectives from Cathedral City established that evidence collected at the site of the suicide corresponded with evidence from the homicide scene.
Although it has been confirmed that Vizcaino and Torres are half-siblings, authorities have not yet determined a motive for the incident. They are urging anyone with information to reach out to Cathedral City Police Detective Ryan Schuelke at 760-202-2455 or via email at rschuelke@cathedralcity.gov.
