TYLER, Texas (KETK)- UT Tyler will be hosting tryouts this week for various varsity teams within the university’s esports program.
The UT Tyler esports program will begin tryouts on Tuesday through Saturday with multiple games in single and multiplayer formats. All tryouts will take place in the esports lab on the first floor of the Soules College of Business.
The college’s varsity team competes in National Association of Collegiate Esports during the fall and spring semester.
The complete schedule for the esports varsity tryouts is:
- Rocket League: Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
- Overwatch: Wednesday at 6 p.m.
- Rainbow Six: Thursday at 6 p.m.
- Valorant: Friday at 6 p.m.
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: Saturday at 4 p.m.
The esports program at UT Tyler was created in 2020 and has been consistently growing since then. The team is supported by a number of UT Tyler affiliates, including the UT Tyler Department of Student Engagement, recreational sports and Soules College of Business.
