TYLER, Texas (KETK) — East Texans from Camp, Rusk and Panola county traveled to Washington for President Trump’s inauguration through U.S. Rep. Nathaniel Moran’s ticket lottery.
Pam Robertson, from Pittsburg was honored to visit the capitol during the historical event while battling stage four colon cancer.
“I’m just feeling joyous today. This is just a day of celebration. It’s a day of happiness. It’s a day of peace and contentment. I’m just happy to put the last four years behind us,” Robertson said.
Robertson and her friends had been planning the trip for three weeks. Her friends came up to Washington with her as a gift since they knew how much she wanted to attend.
Despite the ceremony being indoors due to frigid temperatures, the group was still able to enjoy from inside the Heritage Foundation Building for a watch party.
The other group from Rusk and Panola county also made the long journey to attend the inauguration. They said the energy was electrifying and very emotional when President Trump raised his hand to take the oath.
“To be with everyone excited about Trump being back in office and all the good things the energy was. You could feel it in the room. It was very, very powerful, very God present,” registered nurse for BreedLove Medical and Wellness Jenna Paul said.
Business developer for BreedLove Medical and Wellness Brittany Baton said that the group all got chills, because it was so special to be in a building where history was being made.
Each East Texan that had the opportunity to attend said they are blessed to have made this journey and are excited for what the future holds for the U.S. under President Trump for the second time.
After the inauguration, groups continued their tour of Washington and visited several of the most prized monuments before coming home to East Texas.
