After swerving to avoid colliding with the Dodge, the driver of a northbound 2017 Kia Cadenza crossed the centerline and struck a head-on collision with a 2017 Kia Sorento. After being taken to a hospital, a passenger in the Kia Sorento, identified by police as Herman Hall of Thibodaux, 78, passed away from his wounds, according to officials.
According to state police, Lacy allegedly drove past the scene of the collision and ran south “without stopping to render aid, call emergency services, or report his involvement in the crash.”
Authorities said he is wanted for reckless driving, felony hit-and-run, and negligent homicide.
Lacy was an LSU Tigers wide receiver. On December 19, two days after the tragedy, he declared his intention to enter the 2025 NFL draft.
The standout prospect caught 58 passes for 866 yards and nine touchdowns this season. Over his five seasons at LSU, Lacy caught 26 touchdown passes. In order to concentrate on getting ready for the draft, he decided not to play in the Texas Bowl matchup against Baylor.
