The Lakeview East community in Chicago is mourning the loss of Todd Mack, a beloved local business owner and creative visionary, who passed away recently.
Todd was the founder and owner of Foursided, a unique and cherished collection of shops that became iconic fixtures in the area.
His contributions to the neighborhood, both as an entrepreneur and as a community leader, have left an indelible mark on the people who knew him and the city he loved.
In 2002, Todd opened the first Foursided store on Broadway in Lakeview East. Originally a small frame shop, it quickly grew into a haven for art enthusiasts, collectors, and those seeking one-of-a-kind treasures. Todd’s innovative spirit and dedication to his craft transformed Foursided into a thriving enterprise, eventually expanding to five locations across Chicago.
Known for its eclectic mix of old and new items, personalized picture framing, and artistic gifts, Foursided reflected Todd’s passion for design and creativity. His imaginative and award-winning storefront window displays became a hallmark of the brand, captivating passersby and drawing visitors from all over the city.
During his tenure, he worked tirelessly to enhance the neighborhood’s commercial district and support local businesses. Todd’s visionary leadership and collaborative spirit made him a driving force behind numerous community initiatives.
One of Todd’s most enduring contributions is his role in founding the Lakeview East Festival of the Arts. His dedication to promoting local talent and celebrating the arts turned the festival into one of the Midwest’s premier cultural events. Under his guidance, the festival became a testament to the power of art to bring people together, a reflection of Todd’s belief in fostering connection and community through creativity.
What truly set Todd apart was his genuine care for others. He wasn’t just a business owner; he was a neighbor, mentor, and friend. Todd’s kindness, warmth, and generosity left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. He had an extraordinary ability to make people feel valued and welcome, whether they were first-time visitors or long-time residents of the neighborhood. His contributions went far beyond commerce; he created a sense of belonging and community that will be deeply missed.
Todd’s personal life was as rich and meaningful as his professional endeavors. He is survived by his longtime husband and business partner, Gino, who shared in his vision and dedication to Foursided and the Lakeview East community. Together, they built not only a successful business but also a legacy of love, creativity, and connection.
