Wannis Wilburn Stinson – Indianapolis, Indiana
Wannis Wilburn Stinson, 54, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on October 7, 2024, after a prolonged battle with heart issues. Born on September 24, 1970, in Indianapolis, he was the son of the late Travis Stinson and Beverly Lake. Wannis was a devoted husband to Elizabeth Irene Spall and a loving father to Travis James, Sabrina Kathleen, Matthew Tyler, Devon Lee Thomas, and Bethany Danielle Stinson. He also cherished his role as a grandfather to Alijah James, Autumn Rayne, Lucinda Irene, and Henry Wannis Stinson.
A passionate outdoorsman, Wannis was known for his love of fishing and hunting. He participated in numerous fishing tournaments and was an avid reader of Big Game Hunter magazines. Professionally, he was a licensed automotive technician, graduating from Lincoln Tech University. His mechanical skills and problem-solving abilities made him a go-to person for many in his community. Wannis was also a lifelong fan of the Indianapolis Colts, with Peyton Manning being his favorite player.
William Edwin Steffen – Indianapolis, Indiana
William Edwin Steffen, 89, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on November 27, 2024. Born on May 7, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois, to Edwin and Anna (Hanna) Steffen, Bill served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois Chicago and furthered his education by earning a law degree from Northwestern University Law School.
Bill retired from the Army as a Lieutenant Colonel and then worked many years as an attorney for the State of Indiana in the Child Support division. He was a member of a poker club for over 40 years, where he loved spending time with his friends. Additionally, Bill was involved in the St. Alban’s Baseball League, where he also umpired and enjoyed working with kids.
William Thomas “Bill” Stinson – Sherman, Texas
William Thomas “Bill” Stinson, of Sherman, Texas, passed away on March 18, 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Bill had a deep love for sports and served as a high school football official for many years. He was also an assistant Cub Scouts pack leader and a long-time member of the Dallas Football Officials Association of the Texas Association of Sports Officials (TASO). In honor of his memory, donations were encouraged to Alzheimer’s research, local veterans’ organizations, or any organization of choice.
William “Bill” Stinson – Birmingham, Alabama
William “Bill” Stinson, 82, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away on January 31, 2024, after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukemia on January 24, 2024. Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Joan Stinson; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Brian Butler; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Jason Warren; grandchildren Jamie and Jessica Butler, Jordan Weems (husband Taylor), Carter Warren, Sandee Warren, Brandon Warren; and great-grandson Deluca Weems.
Bill served in the National Guard for six years and worked as a mail carrier for almost 30 years. After retiring, he and Joan began traveling, taking over 50 cruises and traveling throughout the Caribbean, Mexico, and Alaska. In addition to traveling, Bill loved fishing, spending time at their lake house, and supporting Alabama and Thompson football. He was known as the “original Mr. Fix It,” constantly repairing and building things for those in need.
William Earl “Bill” Stinson – Franklin, Kentucky
William Earl “Bill” Stinson, 82, of Franklin, Kentucky, passed away on February 3, 2022, at Magnolia Village in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Bill was born on August 9, 1939, in Sumner County, Tennessee, to the late Robert Stinson and the late Lattie Mae (Johnson) Stinson. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Martha Stinson; daughter Kathy Stinson of Jacksonville, Alabama; grandsons William “Dusty” Williams IV and Jacob Williams; and great-grandchildren Matthias Williams, Adaley Williams, Atticus Williams, and Thackery Williams.
Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and a retired electrician at Potter & Brumfield. He enjoyed fishing and visiting the shooting range. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Heart Association, the Alzheimer’s Association, or a humane society of one’s choice.
William Franklin “Bill” Stinson – Bethlehem, Connecticut
William Franklin “Bill” Stinson, Sr., 86, of Bethlehem, Connecticut, passed away on December 1, 2024, at Waterbury Hospital. Bill was born on July 17, 1938, in Coco Solo, Panama Canal Zone, to the late Benjamin Allen Stinson and Helen Louise (Boone) Stinson. He was the devoted and loving husband of Patricia Ann (Calabrese) Stinson, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage.
Bill enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1958 and proudly served his country for over 25 years, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. During his distinguished career, Bill worked as an Electrical Engineer and Program Manager, playing a key role in the development of the Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS). He is survived by his three grandsons and one great-grandson, Tyler Stinson, Logan Stinson and his wife Sofia, Hunter Stinson and his wife Samantha, and son Archer, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will cherish his memory.
William Alexander “Bill” Stinson – Waldport, Oregon
William Alexander “Bill” Stinson, 90, of Waldport, Oregon, passed away on July 15, 1991. Bill was born on August 13, 1900, in London, Ontario, Canada. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces. Bill was previously married to Pearl C. Vatcher, with whom he had children Tunis Edwin Stinson and Judy Stinson.
