Deantray Reed,Antonio Drake Obituary, Death; – Authorities have identified two men who were fatally shot during a gunfight outside a bowling alley last weekend.
A student was injured in an apparent accidental shooting at an Oakland high school. An East Bay man has pleaded guilty to 12 years in prison for killing his neighbor while on probation for a gang-related sexual assault case. A 75-year-old man was also fatally shot in Oakland. Additionally, an East Bay man faces charges for flying a drone over a Space Force base. A trial is scheduled for an East Bay man accused of using rape videos to further exploit 12-year-old victims.
According to police, the shootout occurred in the parking lot of Delta Bowl, located at 3300 Delta Blvd., around 10:35 p.m. on Saturday. The deceased individuals have been identified as 35-year-old Deantray Reed from Oakley and 34-year-old Antonio Drake from Antioch.
The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office publicly released the names of the two men on Thursday. These homicides mark the 16th and 17th cases investigated by Antioch police this year, representing the highest number since at least 2005, when the department began maintaining online records. The previous highest total for homicides in the city from 2005 to 2023 was 13, recorded in 2010.
In a statement, Antioch police reported that Drake was seated in the driver’s seat of his vehicle, preparing to depart, when Reed approached the car, leading to an exchange of gunfire. Authorities indicated that one of the men succumbed to his injuries in the parking lot, while the other died after being transported by ambulance to a hospital; however, they did not clarify which individual died at each location.
