Robert D Matoon Obituary, Death; – Authorities have identified the 53-year-old man who tragically lost his life on Tuesday night after being struck by a semi-truck on Brooks Street in Missoula. According to Missoula County Sheriff Jeremiah Petersen, Robert D. Matoon, a resident of Missoula, died after being hit by a vehicle while in a crosswalk located in the 300 block of Brooks Street on December 10.
The Missoula Police Department had previously reported that officers arrived at the intersection of Brooks Street and South Higgins Avenue shortly after 10:30 p.m. The initial report indicated that a pedestrian was struck in the crosswalk by a semi-truck without a trailer, which failed to stop and continued traveling south on Brooks.
The semi-truck was subsequently located, and the 38-year-old driver was detained before being released while the investigation is ongoing. The Missoula Police Department is urging anyone with further information regarding the incident to reach out to them at 406-552-6300.
