Toshimi Janiga Obituary, Death; – The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) has successfully identified both the driver and the truck involved in a hit-and-run incident that occurred early in the morning in Wellington, resulting in the tragic death of a mother and a long-serving educator in Palm Beach County. PBSO detectives have indicated that they are currently in discussions with the driver as part of their investigation.
According to the information gathered, the vehicle in question was a commercial truck transporting three individuals, including the driver, from Virginia. A crash report from PBSO indicates that at approximately 5:41 a.m. on Monday, Toshimi Janiga, aged 62, was walking southbound in a crosswalk at the intersection of South Club Drive and Aero Club Drive when a driver heading east on South Club Drive initiated a left turn onto Aero Club Drive.
During the turn, the vehicle struck Janiga, causing her to fall onto the roadway. The vehicle then continued its turn, running over Janiga with its rear tire before fleeing the scene, as reported by PBSO. Janiga was pronounced dead at the scene by personnel from Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.
