Ernest Mitchell Obituary, Death; – Ernest Mitchell, aged 62, from Farmerville, Louisiana, succumbed to injuries sustained in an accident on Saturday, December 7, 2024, while his vehicle was being pursued by the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office.
According to a statement from the Louisiana State Police, troopers were requested by the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office to conduct an investigation into the fatal incident.
The statement indicated that at approximately 8 p.m. on Saturday, deputies attempted to pull over a 2016 Nissan Frontier due to a traffic violation. The driver, Mitchell, fled northbound on Louisiana Highway 33. Concurrently, a 2019 Toyota Tacoma was traveling south on the same highway.
For reasons that are still under investigation, Mitchell attempted to make a right turn onto Louisiana Highway 15 at the same moment the Toyota was turning left onto Louisiana Highway 15 at their intersection in Farmerville, resulting in a collision between the Nissan and the Toyota.
Mitchell, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from his vehicle. He sustained severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he later passed away. The driver of the Toyota, who was properly restrained, suffered minor injuries and was also taken to a local hospital for treatment. The identity of the Toyota driver has not been disclosed in the LSP report. Standard toxicology samples were collected and will be analyzed. The investigation into this crash is ongoing.
