Earl Hollins Obituary, Death; – A military veteran from Houston has passed away following a violent incident in northwest Harris County. The victim has been identified by family members as 80-year-old Earl Hollins, who was reportedly assaulted on Friday outside Food Town on FM 1960.
Initially, investigators believed the incident was a robbery that had gone awry; however, they later discovered that the altercation between Hollins and the suspect, Anthony Boyce, stemmed from a dispute over a parking space, which escalated into violence. Hollins sustained significant head injuries, fell into a coma, and was not anticipated to survive. His family informed ABC13 that he was removed from life support on Saturday night and subsequently passed away.
“What he did was inhumane,” stated Hollins’ niece, Elma Hollins-Washington. While it was initially thought that Hollins and Boyce were strangers, investigators later revealed that they had prior acquaintance before the confrontation.
“Someone mentioned that he knew the man because they often frequented Food Town together,” Hollins-Washington remarked. According to the investigation, the conflict between Boyce and Hollins revolved around a trivial parking space.
Boyce allegedly assaulted Hollins and then fled the scene in his truck. “I exclaimed, ‘My goodness, over a parking spot. You have injured my uncle, and now he is dead, all because of a parking spot,’” Hollins-Washington expressed. She conveyed that the family remains in utter disbelief over the incident.
“You have taken something precious from us, something we will never be able to recover from,” Hollins-Washington lamented. Affectionately known as Uncle Earl, Hollins was a father, grandfather, and military veteran.
Hollins-Washington described him as a straightforward individual who had experienced a great deal in his life, often making him the most captivating person in any gathering. “He was truly one of a kind. To know him was to love him. He was easygoing and friendly,” she added.
According to his family, Hollins was a person who embodied love, yet he lost his life due to an act of profound hatred. “Especially during the holiday season, it is incredibly difficult… it is truly hard,” Hollins-Washington remarked. Boyce appeared in court on Saturday and is currently facing charges.
