A devastating incident occurred on Tuesday night in Catoosa County, Georgia, resulting in the death of 22-year-old Hugo Urbano Chavez. The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) reported that Chavez was driving a black 2015 Infiniti Q50 at an alarming speed of 114 miles per hour on
Interstate 75 northbound.
The High-Speed Chase
The incident began around 8:12 p.m. when a GSP trooper attempted to pull Chavez over. However, Chavez ignored the request and continued driving, sparking a high-speed pursuit on I-75. As Chavez approached exit 348, he attempted to pass another vehicle on the left shoulder, lost control of his car, and crashed.
The Aftermath
Chavez was pronounced dead at the scene, while his passenger, 30-year-old Angel Aleman, was taken to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee, with serious injuries. The GSP is currently investigating the crash.
