BROOKLYN, N.Y. — A 38-year-old man has died from injuries sustained during a violent assault last month in a Shop Rite supermarket parking lot, police said. The incident occurred on Sept. 18 at approximately 7 p.m. at 1080 McDonald Avenue, where two men were attacked with metal pipes and a baseball bat.
The victims, identified as a 42-year-old male and Jervis Jonas Ajpuac, 38, were reportedly sleeping in the parking lot when they were approached by two suspects who assaulted them. The 42-year-old sustained cuts and bruises to his head and body, while Ajpuac suffered injuries to his legs and stomach. Both were taken to Maimonides Medical Center for treatment.
Ajpuac, who was undomiciled, was initially listed in stable condition but later experienced internal bleeding. He was pronounced dead on Oct. 2. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled his death a homicide.
Authorities have identified the suspects as Francisco Corocoj, 25, and Manuel Perez, 49. Both are known to frequent the area around McDonald Avenue and Ocean Parkway. Police are actively seeking information regarding their whereabouts.
