Silver Spring, MD — The Prince George’s County Police Department has arrested and charged two suspects in connection with the fatal shooting of a Silver Spring resident. Jimmy Hernandez-Morales, 24, and William Jaminton Pavon-Mancock, 27, both of Silver Spring, were charged with the murder of 35-year-old Carlos Alberto Ortiz.
On September 14, 2024, at approximately 4:00 p.m., officers responded to the 9200 block of New Hampshire Avenue after receiving a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found Ortiz in a wooded area suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the preliminary investigation, Pavon-Mancock shot Ortiz during a dispute. Authorities confirmed that the victim and suspects were known to each other.
Both Hernandez-Morales and Pavon-Mancock are charged with first- and second-degree murder, along with other related charges. They are being held without bond at the Department of Corrections.
