Fairfax County, Va. – A shooting at the Worldgate Centre in Herndon on Sunday night has resulted in serious injuries to a man, prompting a police investigation.
Around 7:40 p.m., an officer patrolling the area of Worldgate Drive and Elden Street reported hearing gunshots coming from the shopping center. As the officer approached, he observed a vehicle speeding away from the scene.
A brief pursuit ensued as the officer attempted to catch the alleged suspect on the Dulles Toll Road, but the chase ended when the officer lost sight of the vehicle.
Shortly after, a 911 call reported a man with multiple gunshot wounds in the parking lot of the shopping center. Officers arrived and provided lifesaving assistance until emergency responders could take over. The victim was transported to a local hospital in life-threatening condition.
As of Monday morning, the victim is in stable condition following surgery.
Authorities are searching for 25-year-old Mohamed Abdalla, who is wanted for malicious wounding in connection to the shooting. Police urge anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to call 911.
