Washington, D.C. — A third suspect is now in custody in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred earlier this year in Northwest D.C., authorities confirmed on Saturday.
On Friday, April 5, at approximately 11:21 p.m., officers responded to the 1300 block of Peabody Street, Northwest, following reports of an unconscious person inside an apartment. Upon arrival, officers found a 53-year-old male, identified as Fasil Teklemariam, suffering from stab wounds. D.C. Fire and EMS responded to the scene and pronounced Teklemariam dead after finding no signs of life.
On Friday, Tommy Whack, 35, of Hyattsville, Maryland, was taken into custody by members of the D.C. Metro Police Department’s Fugitive Unit. Whack was apprehended in La Plata, Maryland, and extradited to the District, where he was charged with First Degree Murder while Armed-Felony Murder.
This marks the third arrest in connection with this case. Two other suspects—a 22-year-old female from Bowie, Maryland, and a 19-year-old woman with no fixed address—were previously arrested and charged with First Degree Murder while Armed-Felony Murder.
