NEWARK, Del. — Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian that occurred Friday evening near Newark.
At approximately 6:49 p.m., a 38-year-old Wilmington man was driving a Subaru Outback southbound on Corner Ketch Road. Police said an unidentified male pedestrian was standing on the southbound shoulder of the road, just south of Karrington Drive, when he attempted to cross.
The pedestrian, who was not in a designated crosswalk, fell into the southbound lane, and the driver’s vehicle struck him. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Subaru was not injured in the crash. Authorities have not yet identified the pedestrian.
The road was closed for around three and a half hours as the Delaware State Police Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated the scene.
