QUEENS, N.Y. — An 18-year-old man has been charged with murder for allegedly firing multiple gunshots at a car, killing another teenager outside a McDonald’s in Springfield Gardens, Queens, last week.
Rayvon Phillip, 18, was arraigned on charges of second-degree murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, according to Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz. The incident occurred on the night of September 27 along South Conduit Avenue.
Prosecutors said Phillip fired multiple shots at a vehicle carrying four males, including 18-year-old Akim Cisse, who was seated in the passenger seat. Cisse was struck in the back of the head and later died at a local hospital.
“This was a completely senseless act of gun violence,” Katz said in a statement, adding that her office is committed to prosecuting individuals who destabilize communities.
Phillip was remanded without bail and is scheduled to return to court on October 8. If convicted, he faces up to 25 years to life in prison.
The investigation was handled by Detective Kevin Pugliese of the NYPD’s 105th Precinct.
