Washington, D.C. – An arrest has been made in connection with a felony threats offense that occurred in Northwest, D.C.
On Monday, September 30, at approximately 3:00 p.m., officers were flagged down regarding a destruction of property incident in the 3100 block of 14th Street, Northwest. Upon arrival, officers witnessed an individual engaged in a verbal altercation with an employee. The suspect threatened to assault the employee while using homophobic slurs.
Officers swiftly arrested 28-year-old Jasmine Cunningham of Northwest, charging her with Threat to Kidnap or Injure a Person and Theft in the Second Degree.
The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating this incident as potentially motivated by hate or bias. This designation may change as more information is gathered during the investigation. Although MPD designated it a hate crime, this does not guarantee prosecution as such. The Special Liaison Branch is supporting the investigation.
