A tense situation unfolded at Brooke Point High School in Stafford County when a 58-year-old Fredericksburg man was arrested after bringing a gun onto school property during afternoon dismissal.
Thomas Williams, the man involved, caused a disturbance in the school parking lot when he ignored traffic signals from school security, something he had reportedly done before.
When staff tried to approach him, Williams responded with a combative attitude. Things escalated when Deputy D.J. Taylor noticed Williams was carrying a handgun on his hip. The situation led to Williams being arrested and charged with possession of a handgun on school property, making oral threats, disregarding a crossing guard, and disorderly conduct.
Williams is now being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $5,000 bond and has been officially banned from the school grounds. The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office emphasized that the safety of students and staff remains their top priority, and they continue working closely with local schools to ensure campus security.
